Staying Young & Beautiful - Lana Del Rey

I was instantly captivated by Lana Del Rey's beauty the first time I saw her on the cover of her Born to Die album, and I was hooked on her music ever since. After watching the video for her summer hit single "Summertime Sadness", I was convinced she was one of the more interesting artists in the music industry. And I'm still completely fascinated by her artistic vision and her sense of style. We love Lana so much because she has learned to take the 50's side of old Hollywood glamour and modernize it. And she works it well! Her sound is very similar to her sound: a modernized look of the 50's, with a punch of her raspy vocals. Would it be bad if I blog with her song lyrics...

"This is what makes us girls. We all look to heaven and we put our love first. Somethin' that we'd die for it's our curse. Don't cry about it, don't cry about it."

"Money is the anthem of success. So put on mascara and your party dress."

"I heard that you like the bad girls honey. Is that true?"

Lana gracing the pages of L'Officiel Paris in April in this Spanish inspired shoot.
"Darling, darling, doesn't have a problem lying to herself  'cause her liquor's top shelf."

Check out Lana in H & M's fall campaign ad, as well as some of her prior work for H & M.
"You said I was the most exotic flower. Holding me tight in our final hour."

"Hey, Lolita, hey. I know what the boys want, I'm not gonna play."
When I listen to Lana's lyrics, they make me think of a raw look into glamour and love. They're passionate, racy, but also relatable. I love how vulnerable and uncensored her songs can be. Not because it adheres to my softer side, but because it's real. And that's what inspires me. That's why Lana Del Rey Takes the Stares this week, in my eyes.

"Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful?"

White Walls x Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Schoolboy Q

With the exception of a couple of good jams, I can't say I'm a huge fan of Macklemore's music. But I love Macklemore! (...Just not his music). He just looks like the guy that could make any bland situation colorful. Amidst his theatrical ways of expressing his style through music, the guy really grew on me. Maybe watching him in his video for "White Walls" will make him grow on you as well. So without further ado, I give you the very stylish Macklemore and friends (along with a some very cute and fashion forward video girls, too).
