I don't know about you. But I am BEYOND ready for a spring break. Thank God there's only one more day standing in the way on this end! And if you have anything close to my scattered-brained mindset, you just don't know if you're fully prepared yet. Never fear though - we know how to Take the Stares!
So instead of tossing out or giving away all those old graphic tees I had accumulated during that time period when everyone wore graphic tees with just about ANYTHING, I decided to see if I could make them worth my while again and transform them into something new.
The crop-top I had created was perfect because I didn't have to go out and buy overpriced crop-tops at the stores (no matter how cute they were), they're interchangeable between lounging wear and day wear, and I could make my crop-top any length I wanted!
So in these few easy steps, I'll show you how to make your very own collection of spring time crop tops similar to mine in the picture above.
Materials:
- Old Graphic Tee (preferably fitted for this style)
- Scissors
Step 1:
Take your old graphic tee and lay it on a flat surface. Fold your t-shirt vertically in half so that the design faces the outside. It is very important that when you fold the shirt in half, it is completely symmetrical. If it isn't, your sleeves and neck line will be uneven!
Step 2:
Lets start with the sleeves. Using your scissors, start cutting a semi circle about an inch and a half from the hemline of the sleeve. Cut it farther from the hemline if you'd like your holes to be bigger.
Step 3:
Repeat step 2 with the neck line.
Step 4:
Last, cut straight across the bottom of your t-shirt. Note that you don't want to cut the shirt completely in half. I you need to, make a small mark halfway up the shirt, then cut a few centimeters below that mark.
*Quick tip: If your edges come out a little jagged, no worries! Throw it in the washing machine real quick, and then the dryer. The jagged edges will permanently roll-up, giving your crop top a cool, fitted look.
Bam. You're ready for spring! Did I mention that doing this with large, oversized t-shirts make great swimsuit cover-ups?!
Now let's go catch some beach waves and sun rays!
