The First Saturday

Let me take the time to officially welcome everyone into the new year! Happy 2017! The first blog post for year has finally been published on The Stares and I'm so excited I was able to capture it in my hometown. With another year behind us, what better way to start with a clean slate than with green hair, right?

So much can happen in a year, as I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed. Mine in particular was year of growth and growing up. In adulting, friendships, relationships, professionally, and spiritually. And most importantly, fashionably. Whoo! And while it brought me to points of exhaustion at times, I'm so glad it brought me to the place I'm at now. All the projects I'm hoping to share with you guys before the end of 2017 are officially in motion. Another year, another step conquered in our journey up The Stares.

I could sit here and give you a more detailed reflection of my triumphs and grievances of the past year, but we'll be here all day. And you came here for fashion! Who knew one could find bamboo forest in the middle of Decatur, GA? It was definitely unexpected for me. But the bamboo just looked like it was made to be worn with these pants (which were thrifted). Greens, golds, and champagne colors bonded very well together for this post.

Goal #5 for 2017: Remain untamed.

Biggie T's

Merry December people. Someone's feeling nostalgic today. Is it just me or is there some thing completely romantic about 90's hip hop? The sound, the authenticity, the aesthetic - just classic. It's thigh high's and Biggie T's on The Stares today ladies and gents. I hope you enjoy.

I think it's officially decided to be chilly here in SoCal, and believe me. I'm prepared. These cranberry colored thigh high boots are keeping my legs covered. This is definitely a favorite fall color of mine (as you can see, I've got the shades and acid wash cap in the same exact color). What's your favorite fall color?

Now. Unfortunately as a small person, either most Tshirts are oversized on me or they never seem to have any smalls or Xsmalls left. Now does this mean I walk away without a Tshirt? Of course not. In fact, I see it as a challenge to make it work. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't. With this one, I just had to try. I think it may have worked out this time around.

Last but not least. A glitzy choker to top it all off.

Missguided

We're back in the rose garden as promised folks. And this post goes out to all of my band of fellow Missguided ladies who make it a point to Take the Stares everyday.

What a love about this dress is that you can't actually tell it's a dress until you put it on and zip it in the back. Plot twist - the choker is literally a part of the dress. Business is the back and party in the front. My kind of girl.

Be on the look out for this vintage Kate Spade in the Take the Stares shop coming in 2017! She really is a keeper.

Blush & Nudes

It's joggers & bodysuits on the blog today. I think this may be a perfect combination for the girly girl that's a tomboy at heart.

You have no idea how excited I was to be in this garden. The photos won't cover even the slightest portion of the beauty that surrounded me, but we found the perfect area to play in for this shoot. If you're ever in the Los Angeles area and are looking for something relaxing and fun to do, check out Exposition Park's rose garden on USC's campus. I dare not say you'll be disappointed.

Don't you just love when nature and fashion just find a way to work harmoniously? The nude bodysuit with the velvet criss-cross detailed just interacted very well with the blush toned joggers to me. Normally I wouldn't think that something as laid back as joggers and something as risque as mesh bodysuit would work out. But then again, there is that thing they say about opposites that I do highly believe in.

& some new bling out for the roses.

Obtain white booties: crossing off the bucket list.

Isn't fun taking nudes in the garden? Stay tuned for more adventures park coming right at ya.
