Hit the Deck

I'm sure I've expressed at some point over the life span of this blog how much I love fall fashion. Unfortunately I'm beginning to realize there may be no need for it in the everlasting sunny LA. So how does one still get to experience fall fashion without the fall weather to back it up. Here's what I tried.

Tip #1: Still embrace fall colors. Even though this olive green has found a way to be a year round trend this year, it's still dubbed as a fall color. Even in sunnier climates, you can still wear darker colors to connect with the cooler seasons.

Tip #2: Mix lengths. Wearing turtlenecks with shorts and boots, or tanks with wool pants or jeans is a favorite thing for me to do. I'm kind of excited now that I have a legitimate reason to. I came to understand why women from LA wear thigh high boots year round - when it's cold in the morning and scorching in the afternoon, it see how it makes sense to accomodate both climates.

Confession: This "dress" is actually just an oversized jacket. They just didn't have anymore in my size. Make do, right?

Tip #3: Booties are a year round thing. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Tip #4: Accessorize. Never underestimate the power of a few put together pieces of shiny things.

Tip # 5: Never be afraid to take risks. Trends are nice. But trends are easy. Just because it's fall doesn't mean you have to wear sweaters. And just because it's hot doesn't mean you have to bear skin. At the end of the day, wear what you like. It makes fashion a lot more fun.

Goldmember

The pants are back.

I don't get to wear these pants often. The first time I showed them to you guys was October of last year in Turtle Time. But I was inspired to revamp them when I got to LA and found this blouse in a vintage store.

It was hard for me not to be drawn to this shirt. Its bright colors and 70's aesthetic made it stand out to me the most. You can't help but smile when you wear something this funky.

Sometimes taking a quick road trip in the time machine to find some outfit inspiration. Think of what decade you find the most fashion inspo from and add your own touch to it. What'd you come up with?

Working in retail I'm starting to get a glimpse of what trends are on the up and up for this coming fall. If you're into following trends, brace yourself for the 70's folks. Prints, flared and Aline skirts, flare pants: it's all coming.

Up and coming forecast for The Stares: Prepare for lots of flare.
